not sure why I chose military equipment for this oil on canvas painting. I've only done a couple of paintings so far and still finding it pretty difficult to get it looking realistic. Also.. there's some reflected light from the paint, especially visible in the sky - finding it hard to photograph oil paints as they can be a bit reflective.
Very nice! Some tips about photographing oils... Don't use a flash. If possible, go outside on an overcast day and turn the picture so it gets a minimum of sun reflection. I'm sure photographers have better suggestions, but this usually works for me. Also, if the painting is small enough to scan (and the paint is dry!) I've gotten good results with my scanner, even if I have to stitch it together from multiple scans to get the entire image.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, and thanks for the tips. Now if I could only find some sun... :)
